When you first synchronize Microsoft Outlook with InterAction, a folder is added to each user's Outlook mailbox. This folder contains a note item that identifies the last time Outlook contacts were synchronized with InterAction contacts and the last time Outlook calendar items were synchronized with InterAction. Within the note, a hidden field contains a timestamp of the last time Microsoft Outlook to InterAction Sync was run. This timestamp is compared to the last synchronization date stored in the InterAction database.
The Microsoft Outlook to InterAction Sync process sets timestamps in InterAction and Outlook during each synchronization. These timestamps are used for subsequent synchronizations to detect potential issues. If the timestamps match, the synchronization occurs.
When timestamps do not match or if a timestamp is missing in a collection that has previously been synchronized, the synchronization fails and an error similar to the following is generated:
"The calendar and contact timestamps for this user indicate that the InterAction database and Microsoft Outlook are out of sync. Please contact technical support, or see the support site knowledge base for further information."
When timestamps are out of sync, this typically indicates that either the InterAction or Exchange database had to be restored to a time period prior to the last synchronization. To remedy this situation, please refer to the following web page on the LexisNexis InterAction Web Site.
