In Microsoft Outlook, folder caching is the quickest and easiest way to work offline with Microsoft Exchange. Folder caching makes it possible to take a folder from a server location, work with the contents of the folder when you are not connected to the network, and then update the folder and its corresponding server folder to make the contents of both identical. This process is called synchronizing folders. For more information about synchronizing offline folders, see the Microsoft Outlook Help.
Some offline changes are not visible until a Complete mode synchronization is run.
Users can add, delete, and modify the contents of an offline folder exactly as they can with a folder on a server. When users go back online and their offline changes are synchronized with the online version of the folder, the changes appear as though they were made online. When InterAction synchronizes with users’ contacts in Outlook, all the changes that were made offline are synchronized with InterAction just as if the user had made the changes while working online.
