Before you configure your production environment to use InterAction for Microsoft Outlook, you should perform a complete test run.
For your test run to work properly and not corrupt your production database, create a test InterAction database and synchronize Outlook with that database. For specific information on how to create this test environment, refer to Creating an InterAction Test Environment - Microsoft Outlook on the Support Center Web site.
Some of the Features That I Enabled Do Not Display for Users
An offline cache maintains several features related to Microsoft Outlook to InterAction Sync. These features include the following:
- Enabling appointments
- Enabling document linking
- Defining appointment types
- Defining document types
Ideally, all these features will have been tested and configured weeks prior to putting InterAction into production. Therefore, by default, this cache only refreshes every five days.
If you have changed one of these settings, and you need the feature to appear right away, perform the following steps within Microsoft Outlook.
- Choose the File tab in the ribbon.
- Choose Options.
- Choose Add-Ins from the left menu.
- Choose InterAction Add-In from the Add-ins list.
- Choose Add-in Options.
- Choose Offline Settings.
- Choose Refresh Offline Cache Now.
Training Environments
A successful InterAction implementation requires that users know how to use the software to enhance their daily work life. Users should be educated to understand how InterAction can enhance their day-to- day tasks. To achieve this goal, you should develop an effective education plan that incorporates your organization's business processes with the features of InterAction.
To have a realistic setting for training while also preserving the integrity of your production environment, you should create a training environment similar to the test environment described above. The most common scenario for creating test environments is to copy the production database. This lets you use the most relevant data during training sessions.
